8 Quick Apply 2 hours ago Full Job Description Manpower Engineering is seeking a Metals Buyer (Aluminum) for our client in the Owensboro, KY area.
Will work with the Director of Materials to maximize the purchase of low-cost raw material for production/tolling facilities.
Direct hire position with outstanding relocation package.
Flexible work schedule.
Job will be on-site (no remote).
Overview of job duties:
Purchase planned raw material requirements (scrap, prime, hardeners, ingot) determined through constant contact (daily/weekly) with Materials Planning Manager, plant production, and scheduling.
Maintain constant contact with suppliers /customers through outside and inside sales calls and on-site visits.
Manage supplier performance by maintaining regular contact with suppliers and plant operations to ensure accurate and timely metal flows in order to achieve production requirements.
Review and report monthly statistics regarding supplier performance against purchase order specifications - critical supplier scorecards.
Develop new raw material sources through increased dealer supply base through first and second link supply chain opportunities.
Execute purchase plan within specified limitations through dealer transactions.
Minimize exposure to risk of loss by structuring all purchases consistent with approved policies and procedures.
Advise risk analysis of all purchases.
Travel to visit current and prospective accounts.
Represent the company at various industry meetings and functions.
Inventory management - work with plant personnel, off-site warehouses and toll processors to ensure material moves in a timely fashion and obsolete/unusable material is sold.
